The Lutheran Church, with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone, traces its heritage through the Reformation of the First Century. Largest of all Protestant denominations with over 70 million members worldwide, the Lutheran Church continues to proclaim the good news of God's love and forgiveness in Jesus Christ to our 20th century world.

History
The roots of St. Paul Lutheran Church go deep into the history of Mt. Prospect. Five years before the village was incorporated, the congregation was organized with seventeen individuals signing the constitution on July 7, 1912. Nine months later, on March 2, 1913, the first church building located at the corner of Elm Street and Busse Avenue was dedicated. The present church building was dedicated in 1961 and a major renovation was completed in 2008.
The Rev. J.E.A. Mueller was installed as founding pastor in January 1913. Eight days after his installation, he gathered the children of the new parish together in a cottage on Main Street and thus began St. Paul Lutheran School. Since that time the school has continued to provide a quality Christian Education for families of the church and community.
With the help of many dedicated pastors and teachers, St. Paul congregation has grown from seventeen members in 1912 to over 1,850 members today.
