Purpose – Saint Paul Lutheran Church and School views children as precious gifts from God and with parents, acknowledge its responsibility for their care and nurture. Therefore, Saint Paul carries out its mission and ministry by establishing and maintaining a program of extended day care to provide a safe, secure, and caring atmosphere for children of the school.
SPECK is available to all students enrolled in Saint Paul Lutheran School from Kindergarten- 8th grade on a daily basis when school is in session. Extended day care is available for Pre-Kindergarten aged students on the days that they are enrolled at Saint Paul.
Closing time for SPECK and SPECK Fun Days is promptly at 6:00 pm.

SPECK Procedures and Policies
The SPECK program will be held daily in Hasz Hall at Saint Paul Lutheran School.
Dropping off and picking up:
A parent, or other assigned adult, MUST walk the child into the SPECK room and sign in the child with the caregiver on duty. In the same manner, a parent, or other assigned adult, must sign out by noting the correct time and adding initials to the sign in/out sheet.
Change in student’s schedule:
A parent must inform SPECK staff AND the child’s teachers at least one day prior to any change that will occur in the child’s regular schedule. All notifications of change must be in writing and signed by the parent. Children will NOT be dismissed from scheduled participation in SPECK without prior written notification. This includes extra curricular activities.
Lunch and snacks:
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will not be provided, but students are encouraged to bring nutritious foods and drinks. No pop is allowed. SPECK staff may, on occasion, do a healthy snack activity to celebrate a holiday or special occasion.
PLEASE inform SPECK staff of any allergies your child might have.
Saint Paul School playground and gym and Owen Park are used for activities when available.
SPECK Registration and Billing Information
ALL children must be pre-registered for use of SPECK programming. Registration forms are available in the school office and MUST be completed at the start of each school year.
Student use of SPECK, before and after school, will be tracked and a SPECK invoice for billing will be sent out at the beginning of the month which covers the time used from the previous month.
Cost per hour for SPECK: $8 per hour, with a maximum of $18 per hour for families.
Families are charged for actual time of use as calculated to the nearest quarter hour.
- Pre-Kindergarten dismissal from school is at 3:00 pm daily. Parents have until 3:15 pm to pick up children from school. If student is picked up later than 3:15, parents will be charged for SPECK from 3:00 pm.
- Kdg. – 8th grade dismisses at 3:15pm daily. Parents have until 3:30 pm to pick up children from school. If a student is picked up later than 3:30 pm, parent will be charged for SPECK from 3:15 pm.
- Closing time is promptly at 6:00 pm. A 5 minute grace period will be allowed; thereafter a fee of $1.00 per minute will be instituted beginning at 6 pm.
