Small groups
sisters in stitches
On Thursday, February 9th, the members of Saint Paul's Sisters in Stitches were invited to a reception held by the Mount Prospect charity organization, Lemons of Love, located at the intersection of Central and Northwest Highway. The reception was held to thank the group for their many hand-crafted donations of chemo caps, lap robes, etc since Lemons of Love opened their facility at their Mount Prospect location in 2019.
Lemons of Love is a nationwide charity that provides support to cancer patients using their gift bags and care packages for children and adults undergoing cancer treatments, as well as by sponsoring yoga, craft lessons, and group therapy sessions, and providing a friendly homelike “meet and greet” atmosphere for cancer patients to visit with one another.
The charity's director, Julie Kapustka, gave the Saint Paul group a tour of the facility, and explained the history and activities they provide to fulfill their mission statement: “To share the love with individuals impacted by cancer through personalized care packages, free programs, and ongoing support.” They also made available to Sisters in Stitches, a large selection of quilting fabric and sewing thread for any of our church members who would like to sew lightweight cotton chemo caps to donate to them. If you would like to join us in this effort, please contact the church office or join us at our new meeting time beginning in March, on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
